VG1 (Stainless Steel)

VG1 is a popular Japanese stainless steel designed by Takefu Special Steel Co. Ltd in Fukui. It is very similar to VG10 stainless steel and it has strong corrosion/rust resistance, excellent edge sharpness and edge retention. It is reasonably priced and easy to maintain and sharpen. The Rockwell Hardness Scale is 59-60 HRC.
